Response to Secondary Antigenic Stimulus after Whole Body X-irradiation in the Beagle. Lf-17.

چکیده
The results of the administration to healthy beagles of a secondary antigenic stimulus (booster dose) of Leptospira canicola and infectious canine hepatitis virus (ICH) are reported. Twelve previously vaccinated animals were used. Six were exposed to a 335 r dose of x-irradiation. Three controls and three irradiated dogs received the booster dose two days after the irradiation and the remaining six, seven days after. Agglutinin titres for Leptospira canicola of 1:32 to 1:256 were observed in the 12 beagles before the booster dose. No increases of significance were found in either the controls or the experimental group after the booster dose. Complement fixing titres for the ICH virus of 1:16 to 1:64 were seen in all animals before revaccination. There was no significant difference in the titres of the control group and the experimental group which were given the ICH booster seven days after irradiation. However, the response observed in the controls given the booster after two days was absent in the irradiated animals.

Radioprotection of mice by lactoferrin against irradiation with sublethal X-rays
The influence of a host defense protein, lactoferrin (LF), contained in exocrine secretions such as milk, on radiation disorder was investigated. A total of 25 C3H/He mice in each of two groups were maintained with 0.1% LF-added and LF-free diets, respectively, for one month. The mice were then treated with single whole-body X-ray irradiation at a sublethal dose (6.8 Gy), and the survival rate ...
متن کاملImmune response to a secondary stimulus with Leptospira canicola and infectious canine hepatitis in beagles exposed to Sr90. LF-29.
The secondary immune response to L. canicola and ICH virus was 90 depressed in Beagle dogs which had inhaled particles of Sr 1-2 days and 7 days before the immune stimulus. The initial body burden was 31-46 microcuries per kilogram. The peak titre was reached for both antigens within eleven days in both control and exposed dogs. This amount of exposure did not accelerate the rate of decline of ...
متن کاملRheological properties of blood after whole body gamma-irradiation
Background: The study of rheological properties of blood has special interest since it is a circulating fluid exposed to shear rates during its life time. This work aims to investigate the influence of whole body gamma irradiation on the rheological properties of rat’s blood. The applied shear rate was from 12 to 375 s-1. Low shear viscosity (up to 100 s-1) depends mainly on the erythroc...
متن کاملAdaptive changes of redox status in rat brain tissues due to decimeter microwave irradiation
Electromagnetic waves affect living organisms and it is of great interest for wide interaction of new sources with a diversity of frequencies and powers to life of people. In the last few years, many authors have proposed that the biological effect of electromagnetic fields in both the high-frequency and low-frequency ranges are connected with oxidative processes in tissues. Studying the change...
متن کاملEvaluation of changes in excision cavity volume during whole breast irradiation using secondary CT image
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the reduction in excision cavity volume (ECV) during the whole breast radiotherapy (WBRT). The delineating of reduced cavity volume on secondary CT (computed tomography) might decrease the field size of boost plan. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients were treated having breast conservative surgery. At first, primary CT simulation (CT-1) was d...
